How to Mine Parallax (LAX) — XHash GPU Guide

A step-by-step guide to mining Parallax on the pool.ion.cool pool: the exact SRBMiner-MULTI command, a ready-made HiveOS Flight Sheet, the stratum port and how payouts work. No accounts and no sign-ups — your wallet address is your identity on the pool.

What you need

1. Get your LAX wallet

Use your own wallet address, not an exchange deposit address, unless the exchange explicitly says it supports pool payouts to LAX.

2. Install SRBMiner-MULTI 3.7.3

3. Create the mining command

Windows — save as mine-LAX.bat next to the miner
SRBMiner-MULTI.exe --algorithm-gpu xhash --pool pool.ion.cool:33350 --wallet <YOUR_LAX_ADDRESS>.RIG1
Linux
./SRBMiner-MULTI --algorithm-gpu xhash --pool pool.ion.cool:33350 --wallet <YOUR_LAX_ADDRESS>.RIG1
The flag is --algorithm-gpu, not --algorithm. XHash is implemented for GPUs only, so the plain --algorithm xhash line finds no CPU implementation and the miner refuses to start. SRBMiner's own Parallax example scripts use --algorithm-gpu for exactly this reason.

5. HiveOS Flight Sheet

HiveOS has no built-in preset for LAX, so this Flight Sheet uses a Custom miner with the SRBMiner author's HiveOS build. Import it: Flight Sheets → Import from Clipboard (paste the JSON below), pick your wallet and apply.

6. Track your statistics

How payouts work

Payouts are delivered from the pool's own node account, so the pool pays only after a found block has cleared the 100-block maturity. The dashboard shows the current state in the Payments tab.

Why this pool — and why a pool at all

XHash is memory-hard and the network is fast, which makes solo mining a lottery with a very long interval. Here is the arithmetic, using this host's own node as the yardstick:

pool.ion.coolSolo, one node's CPU miner
Hashrate usedyour GPU, whatever it does211 KH/s
Network hashrate11.6 GH/s11.6 GH/s
Expected waitseconds — first share≈ 1 year for one block
What you getproportional payout per block50 LAX, or nothing that year
Fee1%0% — and 100% of the variance
Account to startnone — mine straight to your walletnone — mine straight to your wallet

The solo column is this host's own Parallax node: eth_hashrate reports 211 KH/s against a 11.6 GH/s network and a ~10 minute block target, which works out to roughly one block a year — and solo pays only on the day a block lands. Public pools for Parallax also exist (rplant, coolpool, cedric-crispin and others); compare ping, fee and payout scheme before choosing.

FAQ

Do I need an account to mine here?

No. Point your miner at pool.ion.cool:33350 with your wallet address and the dashboard will find you by that address. There is no registration, login or email confirmation.

Why does the flag say --algorithm-gpu and not --algorithm?

Because XHash has no CPU implementation in SRBMiner — the algorithm list shows the AMD, NVIDIA and Intel GPU columns filled and the CPU column empty. Writing --algorithm xhash leaves the miner with a GPU algorithm and no CPU counterpart, and it exits instead of starting. --algorithm-gpu xhash is what SRBMiner's own Parallax scripts use.

When will I be paid?

Once your balance reaches 0.1 LAX. The scheme is PPLNS, and a found block's coinbase only becomes spendable 100 blocks later — with a ~10 minute block target that is roughly 17 hours between the pool finding a block and that block being able to pay out.

Which miner should I use?

SRBMiner-MULTI 3.7.3+ with --algorithm-gpu xhash is the reference option — it is the miner the Parallax project's own example scripts use, and XHash is in its algorithm list as xhash. Anything else that speaks plain stratum for XHash is welcome too. See the miners table above for what has actually been checked.

Can I mine from several rigs with one address?

Yes. Use the same address for every rig and give each a unique suffix after the dot: ADDRESS.rig1, ADDRESS.rig2. Each rig gets its own row in the Miners table.

Is there an encrypted (TLS) connection?

Not on this coin yet — port 33350 is plain stratum. The dashboard's Connect panel always lists the ports that are actually open, so check there rather than assuming.

My hashrate on the dashboard is zero — is something wrong?

Probably not. XHash prepares a new DAG epoch every 720 blocks (about every 120 hours at a ~10 minute block target), and the hashrate figures are averaged over a window, so a rig that has just connected shows zeros until enough shares have landed to average. The Miners table and the "last share" counter tell you whether shares are actually arriving.

Where do I see my hashrate and payments?

On the dashboard: My Stats for your wallet, the Miners table for each rig, and the Payments tab for payout transactions. Machines can also poll the public API.
